The Elegoo is still available on Amazon.  It's been coming and going but is currently in stock. They're cheaper now, at least cheaper than when I put one in my wishlist in Jan 2024.  It was $359.99 then, $259.99 now.  Does anyone have the Elegoo and know how it compares to the Anycubic D2?

The Anycubic D2 is gone.  Maybe they ran out of parts?  You don't see them on Ebay at all either.  Either nobody wants to sell theirs or hey didn't last long enough to sell.

The AnyCubic D2 is gone in the States.  There are a bunch available overseas in China at reasonable cost, but the current tariffs make it extremely cost prohibitive.

I bought one from Amazon this week. Since then I have discovered that it is $215 on Elegoo's website.

So far my verdict is that the build plate isn't leveled correctly and I should be using a smaller layer height. I shall adjust and try again. But it is crisper than my Anycubic Mono 4K. The build area is almost identical.

These prints are right off the supports. Minimal cleaning. This is my next kit to replace the Shapeways version. ALL holes were printed, and only the boiler support rod holes in the pilot beam were lightly cleared with a carbide drill.

Yes, I just model them a spheres and duplicate them at points on the surface, then boolean them to the model as an added body.

Finalizing another Shapeways conversion kit over to my D2. Here are two kits, one A PRR H3 boiler and cab conversion for the Athrearn/Roundhouse Connie. It includes a cab, windows, a pseudo belpaire cover, cab drop steps, a replacement smokestack, and under cab air tanks.









And a tender remoter/conversion to a speller, more prototypical tender shell using a Bachmann K4 motor snap in replacement. The kit includes a new motor mount, two universal cups to work with the original driveshaft, the tender shell and a cistern fill neck.







I was test fitting the grabs for the kit, installing the windows, and building the rear cab steps. The simulated air tanks hide the screws that attach the boiler to the chassis.

The CAB roof corners failed on this print due to support issues on my part.  That is corrected now.
