Finally switched to DLP.

So after too may print failures on my Mono X, I bought an AC D2. As @bbussey has said, I am now very impressed too. So much so that I am going to restart Keystone Details product, starting with a print to order speaker boxes and simple stuff.

Anyway, here are my first several prints.

A roof for a customer.

A shell for the same customer:

End roof fitment:

Full roofline fitment:

X33 end door inlay. Those ladder rails are 0.3mm thick.

I also designed and printed a new, smaller 70’ barge for the layout waterfront.

So what do you like about it compared to a regular printer? What were the fails with a regular printer? I use Anycubic DLP Craftsman resin, but in a regular printer.

Also it appears no one is currently making DLP printers   :?   None listed at Anycubic. The Elegoo Mars 4 DLP is "sold out"

AnyCubic is still selling the D2. Scott Lupia just bought a second unit.

Amazon still has some  Anycubic D2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4QWYBZL

The Mars 4 DLP is nowhere to be found on Amazon currently.

Tariff issues?

Everything I read says they both use the same parts, but the Elegoo is much stronger and with a metal vat.

Yeah, I saw that video too, but the Mars 4 is not even listed on he elegoo site anymore, and no DLP at all there.  So AC is the only game in town for DLP evidently.

Whoops off to print another file!

I just wonder if their related parts are the reason neither are for sale.

It sounds like the only downside of DLP is that stepping shows up more pronounced. Did you have any problems with that? Does that curved roof have layer lines? Just wondering. I was ready to buy a DLP so many times, but never saw a direct comparison with a model railroad item. I mean I can't tell one dragons scaly skin from another.

Here’s the scaled down barge I printed as the first model off the new printer, copied from the 85 footer in front of it. I needed something a bit smaller to fit in the water in front of the breakwall.

Just need to weather and letter like the other two and make a load, but I am thinking about leaving her unloaded, but dirty inside.

I'm interested in the underframe kit for the IMRC SD40-2 too....
