Yea, I think the one I have is from the original release, but it still holds up as a good model. Crisp body panel separations and a finely cast grill. I'm surprised most of Wiking's molds are still in use. It seems it's newer stuff, like the JD tractors, go out of production while the Bugs and Transporters and that MB loaf van are still rolling out. I also think the designer was watching Bullitt when he put that model on paper. It has about the same stance as McQueen's Mustang.
In reality though, I wouldn't drive the real car unless it had tires like that. My brother's 1968 Chevelle handled like pudding in turns with stock tires, most cars of that era did. The combo of too much power to weight, rear wheel drive and little factory front suspension tuning made then dangerous. I'm no JDM fanboy but I do miss my manual gearbox MK5. It sat low enough and had a robust enough transmission to sling it through mountain turns at 50 in third. I dare not do that with the used CL350 we bought last year.
