I am! I actually meant @btrain . You damn Ohio Brians and your similar usernames... lol
Decide which pantograph you prefer. IIRC the Bachmann one is sprung, and you can get replacements if you accidentally break it, while the Kato one is more plastic-y and replacements are harder to find, but you can set it to any height.
Where's the love for Arnold-Rapido? -Mark
Thanks, guys, and in typical Railwire fashion you're suggesting kitbashing while I'm just looking to have some T-Trak fun. I want one with sound and DCC, and while I have a Kato GG1 in which I installed DCC, I've never attempted to add sound inside a Kato G. I think I'll try the Bachmann just to see.Time was when I was a hardcore PRR has-to-be-correct SPF modeler. Now I have the RGS to scratch that itch.
@Dave V - Dave, hmmmm....are you suggesting that kitbashing isn't fun???????...and...How is it that having the RGS scratches an SPF itch??Just askin' Cheerio!Bob Gilmore
My 5 Arnold GG-1s run fine. They're a little noisy (not coffee grinderish, though) compared to modern locos but they are reliable.Doug
They're bulletproof!
I love kitbashing in certain contexts... For example, combining parts from an MRGS kit and a Grandt Line kit to produce a C&S/RGS Type II stock car. Or my RGS 2102 MoW track cleaner car. But that's not the level of fidelity I'm seeking for this project. I was trying to suggest that I scratch my prototype fidelity itch with the RGS.Maybe I should have said SRGSF? I don't know if RGS fans slobber. We drink a lot of whiskey though.
