Holy $hit I hate talking to people.

20 minutes of him talking about Trump and tariffs just to tell me he does not have my rail. He said it should be here in June from England.

Yep, he said that is when his shop will close, when he dies. I could barely say a word to him. And his talk about China tariffs, when he stopped. I said the rail comes from England.

Now I need to wait about a week before I have Paypal refund my money. Cause Grandpa got my phone number now.   :scared:

I was in Manchester yesterday and stopped by the Boston & Albany Hobbies BM store location.  Here is what I found:

The building at that address houses multiple  businesses, and there is no B&A Hobby store. All the bays are occupied and no traces of the hobby shop.  I visit Manchester frequently over weekends. I remember some years ago driving by this location and seeing the hobby store name on that sign. I never actually stopped and visited it.  Over the years I might have purchased few items from Dave Hobbs but only at his tables during hobby shows.

While I don't know many details, Dave's hobby shop was based on inventory he purchased from Neil Carnaby's Neals-N-Gauging trains in Hampton, NH when Neil moved out of New Hampshire.  The new store was located elsewhere in Hampton, then later moved to Manchester.  I might be missing some details (there might have been an intermediate owner), but basically I think this is accurate.

So at least the physical hobby store is gone. Dave might be just selling online.

When I called he said he was at a show in Oklahoma. Either way his site has something orderable that isn't in stock. I should have got an e-mail saying that and a refund. Or he could have asked if I wanted to wait till June.

Well, you have been "shaking the tree".

But your experience does not seem to encourage others to place orders there.

Probably to make it harder to request a refund.

Is this like the typical eBay thing where the seller generates shipping label, then doesn't ship the product til few weeks later?  :x

Looks like the fact that he put "Callme6033055023" in the tracking field tells me he's done this (to others) before!
