Finished up my 'speaker in a boxcar' this past week....

There is a demo of using the boxcar behind a DC and a DCC loco here.....

The build for the sound decoder to send the sound to the boxcar is ( HERE ) along with the boxcar build.

So that emitter board also works as a receiver?   Are there any other (smaller?) options for a BT receiver?

Yep, there is a solder pad on there that doesn't go through and like that it is a transmitter.  Solder the gap closed and it is a receiver.  It is pretty small as is  15mm x 23.7mm x 2.7mm (.6"x.9").  You can also break the antenna off to make it shorter.  I ruined a few soldering wires to them but have that down well now using wires I cut off resistors as the starting point (see build).  Those solder pad holes are only .050" (1.3 mm) apart.  I think half the normal spacing.

Here is  pretty good data on them....

and I have a more technical one in pdf format if you want it.

I didn't search for anything smaller but would image there probably is.  I got the first from Amazon but others from China for quite a bit less.  Some sources recommend a cap on the input but I'm not using that but do ground the board ground to the audio ground and any other grounds or it is noisy.

Might have to use the pair button once but then both seem to remember each or or another speaker well.
