I'll lead off tonight with an in progress shot of Gettysburg & Northern GP38-2u LTEX 3833.  I was concerned about the body color but settled on CSX YN2 Blue.  Not sure I'd get any closer without going to Larry's and asking what color they used.  This locomotive is a little too new for my modeling years but I thought it was a cool paint scheme so it needed to be added to the roster.  Atlas GP38-2 shell sitting on a GP40-2W chassis to get the short fuel tank.

My museum train project got a big boost with the arrival of three models this past week.  The Centralia Car Shops model is an accurate representation of the staff sleeper ADVENTURE; I just have to remove the side skirts between the trucks.  It was originally a Southern Pacific 4-4-2 sleeper car.  The combine and observation are 3D printed models from Interurban Models and will represent the staff diner ENDEAVOUR and the official car BRITANNIA.  These were originally Reading commuter coaches.  These three cars belong to the set of five which served as staff accommodation on the American Freedom Train in 1976, and were sold to the BC Government in 1977.  These three provided staff accommodation on the museum train for its fourth and fifth seasons in 1978 and 1979:

I also worked on the brake appliance mounts for the two museum train tank cars.  Very small and fiddly stuff, but they turned out fairly well:

Tonight I worked with my friend Geoff on 3D renders for the steam pumps which were mounted underneath these tank cars, so looking forward to getting those printed.

A while back I posted running a DC loco using a sound DCC decoder but left it where it was until now.  Finished, more or less, the project and posted a video yesterday.

The video shows the DCC sound decoder running a DC loco on my DCC test track with the DCC power to the track turned off....

.... next video will show it providing sound only for a non-sound DCC loco running on the test layout in DCC mode.

Good thing he didn't back into that space with the rear tires touching the bumper.

Did those roofs with the raised ribs come with the stock core kits or are they 3D printed?

Very nice!  Good to see that this is now a viable option for passenger cars one needs that are not offered commercially (nor likely to be).

Did those roofs with the raised ribs come with the stock core kits or are they 3D printed?

Union Station Products has three different core kits now - Pullman, Budd, and ACF.  Each one has different roofs (the ones in my models are from the Pullman set since they are Pullman cars).

You can specify when you order if you want detailed underbodies or plain with nothing on them with each type of core kit.

I used ends from American limited kits.......the ones that come with the Union Station kits will need to be filed down.....they are too wide for the roofs.

You will need to heat them up with hot water and bend them a bit in order to get them flat.  I put a piece of brass stock on the inside of the car glued to the floor to keep it flat.

I finally found a load for my 89 foot flat car! This was made by someone I found on Facebook - he makes loads for various scales and uses "Show Me The Details Model Railroad Co." as his business name."  He was very helpful and customized my load to the dimensions I wanted. It was a quick and easy process! I have another flat car that needs a load and I will be working with them again for it.
