@arbomambo ,

Your roads are simply the best N scale roads I've seen. Have you ever shared your technique here on TRW or elsewhere? I'd like to take a page from your book as I design a pair of corner modules with US 22 following the PRR Middle Division through the narrows between Mt Union and Huntingdon, PA.

That's awesome Bruce, but there are quite a few of us here (for various reasons) not of Facebook, so those tutorials are not very handy.  :(

I also have it on Instagram to make it more handy. Considering posting it on TikTok as well.

TikTok? Wow Bruce, what a guy! Your such a social media butterfly!  Some of us old farts avoid as much of social media as we can. Old fashion online forums is all we use. That's as "social"' as we want to be.

Computer storage is cheap and very compact. I always keep a copy (and couple of backup copies on different media) of all my design files.  I put in many many of hours into my designs - I don't want it to all just get lost.

ZFS is your friend.  ;)

And that's your choice which is fair.

But also means you're gonna miss out on stuff.

Oh well, I'll have to get out my stripwood and Ambroid cement and build some models.

But I fail to see the logic in only using certain public forums and not others which are still in popular use. Yes, I can see not posting your info by Pony Express, but ignore a website like TRW? Or have no other way to get info than through faddish, electronically suspect venues like X or Tiktok? I value what little privacy modern life still affords us. yep Peteski, I'll skip the 3D printing and scratchbuild from stryrene shapes, too.

And Kansas City will be just as interesting. For me, the best part of the show is the interaction between modelers with modules, modelers without modules, dealers, and manufacturers showing new ideas and products. THATS wy this convention is special. Hope to see you there.

I have to say after reading all of this... I put a lot of my work on Facebook as well. Because it's super easy to do, and there are tons of affinity groups (like specifically HOn3, Colorado narrow gauge, or even the RGS) where my work fits well can can contribute. Yes, I know, social media is full of toxic crap. Of course it is. Hell, that's the internet as a whole. But the onus is not on the content creator to try to make sure that they put their work on every single platform that a potential audience might use.

Essentially I read "Bruce, I hate Facebook and Instagram, so you should put your stuff elsewhere." That's about as entitled as entitled gets. You hate social media? Great! But you will miss out on things, and that's not on content creators...it's on you.

For security reasons I choose not to use TikTok. I recognize that I will miss stuff because of that. Doesn't make me resent the TikTok content creator's choice.

It's not anyone's responsibility to put content where you want to see it. If you want to see it, you have to be willing to go where it resides.

It is not just that Dave. It is how the info is presented on FB. It is just a constant stream of photos or messages.  You can't have a nice "build" thread which is well organized and can go on for a long time while the builder reports their progress over time.    Online forum is a much better venue for this type of information. Same goes for tutorials.
