BLI Conductor Club Big Boy 4019

I received my much awaited Broadway Limited Conductor Club Big Boy, 4019.  It makes all the usual idling noises after F9.  Eventually I can get the headlight lit.  But no movement, no whistle, no bell.  AD2 and CV29 read fine.  Anyone else take theirs out of the box yet?  I don't wish troubles on fellow steam locomotive modellers.

Try programming your locomotive to any road number other than 3. You can also try contacting Broadway Limited's service department. https://bliservice.com/. They have been very helpful with my inquires.

If you have control of the headlight using your DCC throttle then you must be using correct address.  Something else must be the problem. If you can control the headlight, can you play the bell (F1) or the horn (F2)?

If CV29 has DC operation enabled (it usually is by default), try running the loco using DC (like a 9V battery with its terminals touching the rails on a short piece of track)

If all else fails, find the reset button on the decoder. I have found it will do things that resetting CV's won't. My T1 started acting just as you describe after running flawless for 2-3 hours at a show. CV resets did nothing. Popped the tender apart, hit the reset button and it is perfectly fine now.

I finally had some time yesterday to program a few CV's on my Conductor's Club Big Boy.  I took it down to the basement and it walked away with 30 cars.  Very smooth running and beautifully finished .  It is a bear to get it on the track with all of those wheels even using a re-railer.  Waiting for the smoke fluid that I ordered to arrive.  I don't intend to run the smoke unit unless I have non-hobby visitors.
Best regards,

Roger

Hi,
I have this Big Boy too, but in the stealth version. I don't want sound.
Now I want to install the decoder, but I can't find any information of how to open the tender.
Removing the screws on the rear end is not enough and there are no screws in the front of the tender.
Does anyone know how to open the tender?

When did you have time to do that, Roger? You were sitting down the aisle from me from dawn 'til dusk! Or so it seemed like it. It was a great show.

Glad yours is working. Glenn hit a dead-end and is sending his back to BLI.

There are two screws under the oil bunker that will need to be removed as well as the rear two screws to get the tender shell off.

On the underside I see only 2 screws on the back. Where are the 2 screws "under the oil bunker"? My tender is a coal tender. Are these screws under the coal imitation from the top?

I just received an answer from the BLI support confirming my thought.
Two additional screws are under the coal imitation.

Oil bunker (on so equipped locomotives) is basically where the coal bin (pile) was in coal-fired locomotives.
