I thought it was a half submerged wrecked hopper when I first saw that pic, glad to hear you’re up and running again. I’ve gotta say the quality and quantity of 3D printed models has really increased over the last few years, I love seeing scale versions of models that would never make economic sense to create an injection moulding die for.

I had the screen of my Mars 3 Pro fail in a spectacular way. Instead of a covered hopper I found this. It looks like it exposed the entire build plate and then stopped working entirely.

Cut off the supports and make a scene of the hopper crashed into a river.

I know Reese has been showing his great design work here for years now, but I thought I'd take a moment to just stop and say, when you look at the level of detail and fidelity on the prints you guys are all getting now, it's incredible to see where 3D printing at home has gotten too. Louvers and grills. Wow.

BCR 570:  Interesting way of building a crossing.  I don't remember ever reading of someone building one from the inside out!

When I built mine, an odd angle, branch line crossing an 18 inch radius mainline curve, I notched the running rails, egg-crate style, and soldered them to the ties.  Then I built all of the guardrails to fit them.  Finally, I filed the flangeways through the running rails.  That thing will never come apart!

Not quite - making the various rail sections in stages and photographed the outer guard rail pieces with the other removed.  Once all the parts are made then I will assemble it.

I think about this every now and then. Going from when I was in college waiting a week or more for a print to show up from Shapeways and not knowing how the quality was going to be, to clicking print from my PC and the parts near exactly how drawn ready to try in a couple hours. Wow indeed.

I got paint on the Milwaukee Road "Grove" series diner/lounge yesterday and put most of the decals on this morning.

I'm waiting on new car names/numbers from Circus City Decals in order to finish the car.

I'll wait to install the grab irons/steps until the new decals arrive.

Window glass will be the final step after I dulcote the car.

I almost wish that I had not seen this. Less than 10 miles from me and l knew nothing of it. Oh well, probobly for the best. I have enough RR memorabilia as it is.
