I'm finally back to printing after a little hiatus!

I ran a test print of my GP59ECO. There's a few things I want to tweak but I like how it turned out. It rides on a FVM GP60 mech.

I believe my foobie Baldwin Passenger Sharks were built from resin shells by Father Nature.

There is one other version of the BP20 in N scale.  Pete Peters made a master and I happen to get a couple shells from him.  They are not made from freight sharks and are correct in length.  I used stretched Con-Cor PA's for the mech.  This was a long time ago.  I have been wanting to repower them with a modern DCC/sound mech but haven't gotten around to it yet.  I did run them on the Reid Brother's Cumberland Valley layout which was a great thrill!

The shells would have been put on the market but a deal with Liberty Models to produce them fell through.

I would like to get some pictures of that O scale version's fuel tanks and battery box.  I have never been real happy with the ones I made and finding good proto pictures is hard because they are always in the shadows.

More of a "quarterly update" rather than a Weekend Update. 

Back in early October, I held the first 'dry run' op session on the Southern Tier Lines.  While overall it went well, a few turnouts on the Erie's Rochester Branch in Bath caused some heartache for that operator, and we noted some dead frog issues too. I note that the suspect turnouts are all 25+ years old and are on their third layout, so this wasn't a surprise. (Insert "There's never time to do it right the first time, but always time to do it over" comment here.) While frog juicers are a straight-forward installation without any track work needed, they are prohibitively expensive for a layout this size.

So, I tore out 8 feet of track and 14 turnouts. Three needed replacement, but the others just needed connections to the frog, and I thought it would be easier to do that on the workbench. But what really drove that drastic step: I plan to eventually apply for an NMRA Merit Award for prototype modeling, and I needed to relocate some trackage to better reflect the Erie's trackage in Bath. So out it came.



I tried a few different attachment methods for adding the slide switch and associated wiring, and I haven't found a configuration that I truly like yet. But everything is back together and a sound-equipped S-2 now crawls through the reworked turnouts.  Good thing, as I am hosting my local NMRA Division on the 19th!      After which, I may re-do a couple of them, and then move on to other turnouts that are showing intermittent problems.
