Me after seeing the announcement

Being a sucker for patched cars, there's some GACX & INTX ones on the way.

Even 2024 modelers can use some: here's one of the earlier runs, BN 468709, last week...

The thing that's most noticeable to me is the jacking pad area. The earlier PS built cars are less bulky without a hole, and the trinity built cars are bulkier with a distinct round cutout hole. Its a subtle but very noticeable detail.

They former is represented in the IM model, the latter in with this new Tangent release. I'm not familiar with the other N scale 4750's.

These cars are great for modern outline modelers, they are still running around in BN green.

Trinity also produced 4750 cuft covered hoppers before they started using the PS design with the general differences that you point out.

The earlier Trinity cars have a closer resemblance to the RTC 4750's that Precision Masters originally released than the PS or later Trinity built cars

A very small part of me is like yay they did not do ATSF so I don't have to listen to my wallet scream at me.
The other portion, is like Y NO ATSF? I need like 60 more covered hoppers in the billboard and Q cars for a scale length earthworm.  for which I have no room...

If they still have quad hoppers in stock, may be a sign that they over produced or over estimated n scale demand of their product, and reason why so long between a run of a new car.  I figured they'd have been sold out

IMO they over estimated the demand for the quads in N. I've thought about buying a train's worth, either in red, or black, not sure which yet, and doing an export coal train towards the PNW. I checked today, and it only appears about 5 numbers between all of the UPs are sold out.  It seemed a niche car, and just didn't get the interest that they expected like their HO runs do.  Personally I'm hoping these 4750s sell out quickly, show them that N does sell.

I believe these cars also had a large recommended minimum radius because of the body mount couplers.

From talking to the guys at Tangent, it was due to the brake hose and some of the details. The 4750s have body mounted couplers, but state they can do 11" radius. So guessing they either did some less details or something, as the quad hoppers need 18.75" radius curves.

All of the GACX BN Patch cars have sold out! :o

And all the BNSF patched, UP patched, and 11 of the 12 BNSF numbers.

Hopefully I can find SKU 01 of the BN cars eventually.

There's something fishy about that fast sellout.  The model wasn't even announced until Friday and many schemes are gone by Tuesday, without ever hitting the usual shops?  Were the patch schemes ever actually in stock at Tangent?  On the other hand, if they were fast sellers, that ought to get the attention of the decision makers there.  :)

It was. I waited until today to order, and when I checked on Monday, they were actually in stock. I hope Lombard gets some for those who had to wait.

But hopefully, this is a good sign if Tanget is already sold out of their supply.

The thing about Tangent is they don't announce a product until it is in stock.

I ordered a CSX and a BN. BN is NEW 8-90, just outside by 187-89 era but close enough. Be my first Tangent cars.

From FB: “Tangent has posted more of our new N Scale Trinity 4750 Covered Hoppers for sale to our website as we are balancing inventory of the cars we brought back from Trainfest versus what we had at our home base in Asheville.  Please check our site NOW if you are interested in purchasing one of these cars.
We appreciate everyone's interest in our new N Scale Covered Hopper!”
