I have come to love Anime for it's deep philosophy and esoteric vale.  Also it's great fun pretending your still fifteen years old, wild and care free.  And novelty in Anime goes a long way.
There are some rail themed Aimee, but I cannot vouch how gratuitous.

Excuse me while I wait for my train to arrive so I can eat  :D

Ah. Rail Wars! Man of culture.  :D

And yet here I am, being an Evangelion fan:

After "Operation Yashima" Shinji, an apparent, densha otaku spends his time relaxing while examining a DD51 that was used to haul massive transformers for his mission to defeat Ramiel the 5th angel.

I mean besides Rail Wars are there any others? Most off the top of my head is all secondary or just for a couple scenes. That said I do have quite a few Girl Und Panzer containers and an EMU.

Yes, Train to the end of the World (Shuumarsu Train Doko e Iku?) is one that came out this year, and GreenMax is doing the two car set soon.

Galaxy Express 999.... Is a trip. Literally. In space.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress can be informative. It's industrial revolution era type stuff... with "Zombies"

Rail Romanesque is.... Well... Trains as anime girls. They are shorts and not full episodes per se.

Mugen Train I guess? If you are into Demon Slayer.
Though the locomotive does look identical to the 8620...

Not really much like Rail Wars

You have to understand the Japanese mind set and their culture.  It's hard to describe.

Here's an example.  You're riding the Tokyo Metro.  Seated across the aisle is an older distinguished looking gentleman, dressed in a business suit trim and proper.  On his lap is a nice looking leather briefcase like bag.  He can easily look like a CEO of a company.  In his hand is a 1" thick paperback book and you realize he's reading a manga/anime book.  You would have gone WTF?

BTW, this really happened when I was there two weeks ago.

Edit: it wouldn't surprise me if I find this guy at a train shop looking at those motorized sushi pieces.  :)

I feel that I’ve got a fairly decent grasp of this wondrous culture, so I can relate to your little anecdote.

My introduction to “things Japanese” was a good 40 years ago when my sister married a Japanese Canadian fellow, and we were privileged to partake of the annual New Years cook-up at his grandparents home. An interest in learning the cuisine led to a fascination with Japanese garden design & construction.  And then pottery.  And sake.  I collected an array of woodworking hand tools, and became rather good at building shoji screens.  With this background, one of the most intriguing business trips I ever had was spending two weeks in Osaka, and I would very much like to return and undertake an extensive Japanese rail-based exploration.

However, and despite all of the above, there are still little peculiarities like this sushi railcar thing that leave me puzzled!

You should!  I just came back from a 3 week trip exploring the outer cities and towns from Tokyo.  Last year we were there for 2 weeks hitting the Big Four - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima.  We will go back in 2025.  My intention is once a year until I can no longer travel.  It's such a magical place.

Saying Japan is a train centric nation is an understatement.  Almost every place I went they have multiple hobby stores and many are just N-Scale trains unlike the US ones where it's mostly R/C cars.  They even have shops dedicated to second hand trains, all in pristine conditions of course.  Then there are the train bento's, the many, many, vinyl wrapped local trains, the specialty trains like romance trains, etc.

You know. Now that you mention it. I did in fact watch Kabeneri. It was something.

That sushi train would be funny to see rolling around some club's layout at one of the Greenberg shows. I know if I were in a club I'd probably break it out every now and then to keep visitors on their toes. As for anime my favorites are Dragon Ball, Paranoia Agent, Trigun, Lupin The 3rd, and Cowboy Bebop. The early days of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim line-up were a treasure trove of great shows.

I'm quite sensitive about what I watch, but the format itself has proved therapeutic to me on many levels, just as much as crafting models.

Violet Evergarden has improbable but cool train scenes.
Hakumei & Mikochi has a long train ride.  For people only 6'' tall, it must scale out to about 5'' gauge!
So large scale Jap brass could be used to cross Japan!  I'd totally use a Godzilla shrink ray to get small enough for a ride.
Steins Gate is excellent, with a bit of metro.
Think I would like to go visit if I could. Cat girl Cafe's  ;)

A couple of the Greenmax chassis look interesting and might be worth playing with sometime.  With their flat profile, and perhaps cut down in length, they might work for some traction motors.

I tend to notice that most anime that displays trains in scenes, they do an impeccable job with detailing trains. Most are based of actual trains in Japan, or are very similar.
Should I mention 5cm/s?

Also Stiens;Gate is S tier.

OH Speaking of Rail Wars!
I have these made by Tomytec (Tomix)

That's *SO DARN CUTE*!  I used to think that Thomas & Friends was cutesy, but those take it three or four levels higher!   ;)

Are those cuties powered, or just rolling stock?  Rapido couplers rock!  8)

Right?!? Aoi (Red hair) is my favorite, she's awesome in the show.
Just rolling stock/display. They do roll, just not super well.
However they can be powered.... Well whenever it's not sold out with the Tomytec HM-01

Another really neat find.

Not familiar with the Hakotetsu: Rail Wars Series or the N-Scale rolling-stock character portrayals, in addition to its series of action figures, an Internet search revealed that in late September 2014, Tomytec released its 256151 set of nine character train models (four normal, four variation, and one secrete/surprise) with different facial expressions: 01: Sakurai blue with Toku-kyo EF82, 02: Koumi much with Mr. Abt, 03: Kashima 乃亜 with Kiha 381, and 04: Satsu-numa Mari with 169 system.

Aoi must have been the secret/surprise figure.

As some of the Hobby Search photos show unpainted gray figure heads, were the Tomytec train models shipped in factory decorated form?
