New Bachmann 4-6-0 (19th century version) info?

I wish that they would come out with a more modern 4-6-0...say something like the Athearn/MDC HO Harriman 4-6-0...that would just about bankrupt me since the NWP was well stocked with those. But I only bought 1-2 of the first run (hoping that I could maybe kitbash or replace the boilers into something more modern even though they had a ridiculously sized tender with them) and these look almost as silly so I'll be taking a pass.

It's funny, I was getting ready to post an update on this loco when I got the BLI 2-8-0 email announcement today.

Apparently the artwork is now done on the 4-6-0.  Hopefully the mechanism is a good one.

I know QC has been an issue for B'mann at times, but virtually all 5 of my steamers have been excellent runners (3 connies, a 4-6-0 with GIANT tender, and the nice little Alco 2-6-0).

Historically undecorated (fully unpainted) models have sold very poorly for Bachmann. Painted/unlettered does slightly better depending on the product. But we can discuss it for a future run.

I think this particular model is much more likely to sell in "undecorated" version because it is going to be in a pretty underserved niche of the steam loco era.  And it would go well in the modern era as the loco on a tourist train made up of the Bachmann open coaches (Jackson excursion cars).

It's not really a match by any means for any class of Colorado Midland 4-6-0, but I might just pick one up anyway. At the very least I'd need to give it a straight stack (the CM didn't have any diamond stacks even while so many of its narrow gauge contemporaries did). I've got decals (I think).

I want to support this era in N scale... it's been lonely!

More of the painted unlettered would probably sell than you think.

I would consider one. I actually have a few of the Jackson excursion cars that it would go cool with. My grandson would probably like it. He really likes riding trains like that.

I don't need any of the ones that are being made. I'm trying really hard to stay to what I need.
