Now I know what to do with those 2 shoe boxes full of snap track I found when moving a few years back. Thanks for the inspiration Lee. What you've done there is awesome.

Also featuring my right arm.   

But as you can see, third time was the charm on repowering my 25-ton scratchbuilt Shay.   First try was an 8x16 Faulhaber, second try was a faster gearhead, maybe 5.14:1, third time is a 25:1 gearhead, and in the middle, completely rebuilding the trucks and pickups to get that all more reliable.   That little guy did most of the heavy lifting at the show, much to my surprise, along with the Climax B.

The Atlas shay sucked in a piece of ground foam in the truck gears and promptly locked up, and shed its driveshaft - again - so back in the box it went.
