Mark never returned my recent call where I left him a voicemail.

I have parts that I can duplicate and sell through Keystone Details when I reopen for biz. I cannot recall what I paid for mine. I think it was $10.  I will charge the same.

BUT:

If and when Mark returns, I will reimburse him for the sales.  I feel a little weird copying his design due to my very public stand on intellectual property, but I will not steal his profits. I am not aware of a patent on his design.  I will immediately stop if he reaches out and insists I do that OR offer to pay him for his design.  I will also give him due credit for the design in my new listing.

Speak up if anybody thinks I should NOT do this.  I will wait one week for the hive's thoughts.

I feel that there are many folks who still want this item, and it is a proven design.

I also sincerely wish and hope that he is OK and that nothing serious has occurred to prevent him from reaching out.  I iwll also try to contact him directly myself first.

I'm really glad to hear you're restarting, and that's a pretty ethical way to go.

Mark is one of the finest precision machinists I've ever met.  And I have no idea what happened.

Last time I heard from him was in December of 2021, nudged in Nov. 22, no response.

His emails still don't bounce, mystery.

I wish I knew what happened to him.

Not only was he an incredibly talented guy, but he was an incredibly GOOD guy.

There's a reason he has the one and only  :ashat: Medal of Honor.

I've been trying to track him down now for years. I've tried emailing, googling him. Looking for obituaries. Nothing.

It sucks.

Wasn't it said that you can replicate his insert with a simple shim of styrene? I don't have a shim or the model to know, but thought it was said.

This is a very ethical approach (all angles covered) - I don't see any problem with this. Please proceed!

It sucks.

Yeah!
I had some phone discussions with him brainstorming some of his future projects.  He seems to have fallen of the face of the Earth.  It is really strange!

Chris, yes I suppose you can add a piece of styrene to take care of the problem, but Mark's was much more elegant solution.

I'm glad that Lemosteam is going to produce that item, and I agree with his ethics.

I'd be in for a pair. I haven't picked up this loco yet, but it's on the list.

It's funny, that's the EXACT same way I describe it.

He transferred his house to someone in 2021. Was that after he disappeared from here?

That is strange.  He offered to sell his Photon printer to me back in February 15, 2022.

So he was around til about a year ago (unless someone else logged in as him) but not posted anythgin for about 2 years before that.

Maybe he developed dementia or maybe he is in jail in a solitary confinement?  Witness relocation program maybe?  :?

Or perhaps it was an alias and there is no such person as Narrowminded.    But seriously, I feel like we've done our due diligence in trying to reach out. The models need these spacers in order to function.  John's stance seems right to me given the circumstances.

Is BLI still in denial that there is a problem in need of a solution?
