Out of curiosity, has anyone received any BSB dome cars yet? I know they were shipping later than the Empire Builder scheme cars.  I haven't received mine yet, but I don't want to bug Lowell unless it appears my order really did get overlooked.

I'd send him an e-mail.  Supposedly they're shipping (per an e-mail I got from him last week).  I didn't order BSB though, I ordered NP (and they're really nice!)

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I ordered a BSB dome, and it looks like I have a USPS delivery showing up on Saturday,  so I expect that is it.

I received my BSB cars Tuesday, shipped last Wednesday.  Not bad, especially over a holiday.  They look just as nice as the NP/SP&S cars.  I do need to renumber one, though, as 1335 had already been repainted by Amtrak by my (loosely applied) date.  Won't be hard to do.

Still waiting on mine, but I didn't order until about 2 weeks ago. Maybe he's shipping them in order of when they were ordered. I'm not worried yet.

Okay, thanks. Since I'm in the Eastern US, mine must be on its way.

Lowell prints a ship list a few weeks prior to actually shipping them. The risk of last minute orders or orders after they arrive risk missing the pre order batch shipment. Lowell’s priority is those who pre order. Last minute orders or older in stock items get shipped in the gaps as soon as he can get to them. Your better served to order early whenever possible.

Not to mention having a better chance of them not being sold out, as I don't imagine he makes many extras.

For sure.  I placed my preorder back in mid December.

I ordered mine in August 2023.  They took longer than he expected, but turned out well.

Now that we have two good Budd domes, Railsmith and Kato, does anyone have any simple ways to tint the Kato domes?  I don't have an airbrush, so that's out.

Rapido makes a good Budd dome also, and tinting its windows would make it even better…

Thank you!  I can get Tamiya at my "local" (50 miles...) hobby shop.  I'll pick some up next visit.

The fun part might be masking the rest of the roof!

(I'm getting a lot of "503 Service unavailable" errors tonight.  Refreshing the page usually clears it, but sometimes it takes a few tries.  Up-votes are also very slow to take.)
