It's looking like the steam power fans among us may no longer have to envy the diesel folks with their ProtoThrottle.

Some features are:
  • Cab sounds
  • Throttle
  • Johnson Bar
  • Water Injector
  • Coal Stoker/Fireman
  • Auto-Fireman
  • Water and Steam levels have consequences
  • Tender Water levels

Interesting!

And I am glad they provide an automatic "fireman", because running a steam loco was definitely a 2-person job - - and I want to be the engineer (as well as the brakeman and conductor).

Also glad they left out the handgenade to simulate the experience of the letting the boiler water get too low.

But getting to a water source and adding coal to keep the automatic fireman supplied seems like an effective way to make you think about the steam in "steam engine."

I'm glad to see this has moved along.

Was just corresponding this morning about things like this creating more immersive experiences that make smaller layouts rewarding enough to get people out of the armchair.
