When I used to make paint in the lab, I would spin the stirrer to get as much paint as possible off the blade, mainly so that it would be easier to clean  ;)

I usually spin it before taking it completely out of the bottle.

This. And a bottle of 99% alcohol to spin it clean and a bottle of paint thinner for stinky paints.
