I ordered both - trashy, rusty dilapidated covered hoppers seem to make up half of merchandise trains these days....

Kind of gross to think our food travels in them?

That said I wish MTL would start a subsidiary decorating other cars like the FVM 4750's and other cars.  The weathering/graf is out of the park.

This x1000.

MTL has all but stopped doing weathered/graf cars in Z aside from some bizarre 4-packs.  (that you can now no longer split up amongst friends, but I digress...)  But I would love to see them tackle some AZL or Full Throttle freight cars, it would be magical.   (now, that's never gonna happen ever....MTL and AZL don't care for one another much...another crazy fun fact that they don't teach you in the Z-Scale orientation)

Heck, I'm stumping for MTL to stop doing "factory showroom paint" and make weathering the rule, not the exception.

Lou,

Did you get the cylindrical hoppers of the 4-pack of covered hoppers?

I was just curous if the covered hoppers had body-mounted couplers or if they are on the trucks.

Judging by the photos, they look truck-mounted.

I stopped buying rolling stock a few years ago having more than enough box cars and hoppers etc. The last year or so I have started again with these MT weathered cars. My only exception in buying non-weathered cars were the MT Railbox sets. I will have to weather those the old-fashioned way by doing it myself...  :(

Oh crap.  It's not like I need any more covered hoppers of the grain type, but I do like (other than expense) collecting nicely weathered cars the easy way.  If I know me (and after 50 years of model railroading, I think I do) I will end up buying the ADM and BN.  Not 100% on the CITX Halloween cars.  If I put that on my layout, it would be halloween grafiti to the back, but only because I have a few Xmas and Halloween cars already and it might seem like too much.

Got mine from Hogtrainz....

These are just off the planet amazing.  BTW only one CITX is tagged and only on one side. The Halloween tag is not so obviously halloween-ish, imo

Wow, just fantastic...

So the other car is just a regular weathered car?... why make it a 2 pack then?

Good question - the CITXes could use a bit more rust on the top. imho.
