@GaryHinshaw, that is a coupler torture test and it runs without any problems.  All those empty centerbeams 

People need to be patient with @turbowhiz, it seems clear that any wait for these couplers is going to be worth it.

One observation - good thing the train is going downhill and pushed. Guaranteed all those empty centerbeams would stringline at Caliente if pulled uphill. At least on the 1:1!

Pretty sure that is uphill towards the loop.

Yes, it is uphill. This test would likely have failed with most other couplers, and on the prototype.

Touché.  At least now I have options for when the d/s routes a train into the wrong staging track at Mojave.  We have a chance of backing the train uphill w/o incident.    And BTW, these couplers kiss couple beautifully, and stay coupled.  This product is going to solve one of the biggest frustrations I have had with N scale for a long time: the myriad of semi-compatible and over-size couplers.

These couplers are awesome. They will make locomotives and cars look so much better.

Well, as outstanding as these couplers seem to be, I’m starting to get a bit disillusioned…

I was excited about Protomate couplers… and they SEEMED to be fully developed…

THEN, JTC made an announcement about releasing the VRK coupler… again, I got my hopes up…

…a reputable company that announced in a hobby magazine!  But, on another forum, a member asked them recently about them… response was disappointing - "Not at this time."


SO… much as I want these couplers, it appears that something is out there keeping new coupler designs off the market.

(Or am I being too much of a conspiracy theorist??)
