George:  Probably not the GN/NP, although they could have been.  Most of the GN/NP cars stayed on the Empire Builder/North Coast Hiawatha routes most of the time.  Having one in another train could have happened, if one wants to run one.

The one missing detail is a door and steps to board and discharge the dome passengers.  You would have to add it between the baggage door and mail apartment.  Conceivably, you could board/discharge passengers through the baggage door, but still you would need steps.

Still, this is an interesting car.  It would be good for those that operate non-historic railroads as a car that sets apart their railroad from others.

The way to go on this car would be to remove the seating area in the dome, and the floor, that way the postal clerks would have ample lighting to sort the mail.

Of course, if any of them are troglodytes, they would probably be less than pleased
