In the 50s, Southern RRs cement customers wanted larger loads than the usual 70Ts. Instead of buying new cars, they rebuilt
the 70T cars and converted them to 100 T cars. They did this by extended the height, 100T with brakes trucks and additional
bracing. I started with two Bowser 70T cars. There was an article in Mainline Modeler that had several detail photos and a list of the height added to each series of cars done. I built the ends with Special Shapes angle brass. I don't know at what point kitbashing becomes scratchbuilding, but, regardless, that car is truly impressive.

Special Shapes angles onthe end cages, looks great!  Which sizes, and was it hardto do the bends and drill for the grabs?

The Proto87 wheels look great too! 8D

Thank you sir!  The sizes are, 3/64 and 1/16. As far as I know, Special Shapes is no more and that's a shame! I'm glad I bought a good supply. The bends were surprisingly easy, I guess because the brass was soft. Drilling all of the holes was a pain!!!!
