Some good news for CNW passenger car modelers- Clan Gordon.  It was a 10s-3dbr car, that from its look, I am guessing was converted from a 10-1-2 (which is the MTL car used for the model).  Window arrangement is right on or at least very, very close on at least one side.  Here is a photo of the prototype:

Dammit. I don't really need any more 40' boxcars, but that NYC car is pretty damn sexy with its COTS boxes.

I wish it were a weathered release though! I be those cars turned gnarly.

I'm liking the Tidewater Southern cornucopia logo car, a 1:1 rarity to begin with that I saw in the flesh in 1972, moldering on a maintenance spur. But I think I already have one from a special run several years ago. Either I have to go through several boxes of boxes, or pony up the bucks and get it over with to be sure I have one.

I agree with C855B but I don't think it was a special run. MT has previously done the 50' plug door version of this car (TS 610 MT 32280). But Athearn has done three different numbers of this 50' SD boxcar as well (TS 501, 504, 507). It looks like I have 507 but no 501 so BINGO!

Prototype data: One of 25 cars ordered from Pullman Standard in 1955 (TS 501-525). TS 520 still alive and living in the Portola RR Museum and being repainted in this same classic scheme.

I am delighted that a Missouri Pacific heavyweight passenger set has been announced but rather than three identical sleepers how about a 12-1 Pullman and some coaches, either single or double windows?  This would then make up a more varied consist for a shorter distance or local train. Patrick C Dorin's MoPac passenger Trains book has a number of examples.

Yes, there were several different extensions for these cars.  I understand these were also used for Lemon service, just found a picture but with different extensions.  Those would be pretty.

Gerry, I plan to ask MTL if they would consider swapping the baggage car, the obs car and two of the 10-1-2's out for a Baggage-RPO, a diner and a single window coach. MTLJoe, if you're listening, if ya'll do a 5 car set of baggage-RPO, 2 coaches (MP had both single and double window cars) , a diner and a 10-1-2 or 12-1 you could model a number of MP secondary trains under steam or diesel. I can post some consists later.

MP had some good sleeper names: 10-1-2's included Mesquite (MP), Lake Okechobee (NOT&M), Rio Bravo (MP). Some of the 8-5's had interesting Mexican names like Ixtaccihuatl (I-GN), Popocatepetl (I-GN) and Sierra Madre (MP).
