Well then, it looks like one of those modern switching-type power supplies which supplies filtered and regulated DC power.

This, along with the new PC board containing lots of SMD components, would seem to indicate that the new Kato throttle is in fact PWM throttle.  Excellent motor control for decoder-less DC locos, but it can make decoders (in analog mode) misbahave.

If it's an "SX" pack, the following implies some PWM magic - "Lights such as head / taillight and interior light can be lit even at stop." That's most likely gonna throw a DCC decoder off the rails. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10501349

Usually that type of power at the track is not healthy for coreless motors.
