Maybe it was part of a peaceful protest?

Sure seems planned out and organized!  Large crew, or they had a lot of time.

But you’re the designated sacrificial lamb today… it’s on the calendar.

We had a pig train derail in what was at the time Hobbema, AB (since been renamed).
There was a container full of Bluejeans and one full of tires smashed open, the townsfolks were carrying off every thing they could. It was like the runway scene in Lord of War!

I've heard stories of people breaking into containers but have never seen it...

I hope those containers were not headed to Rapido, Atlas, Athearn, etc.

There are internet videos of containers being broken into and robbed in Chicago.

Chicago?  It must be the work of the notorious UnPac Boyz!

Once I was in the railroad cop's office in the superintendent's building and he showed us a video they had taken of people stealing cargo out of containers on a Z train.  They stationed themselves in an area of heavy grade territory and when the train is down on it's hands and knees crawling up the heavy grade, they would jump up on the cars, open the containers and toss out anything they could get out of the container.  Then others would collect the booty along side the tracks.  That's one of the reasons that Z trains tend to be over powered now days and engineers are required to keep all engines online regardless of TPA requirements, so as to keep train speed up even in heavy grade territory.
