They realize that all us N scalers are getting older and the eyes don't work like they used to so we'll all be switching to a bigger scale in the near future.

MTL has long had the former-KD HOn3 line, so an HO announcement isn't too surprising.

The HOn3 stuff was ours...no KD parts or pieces.  Just for historical accuracy :)
