Ed,

Unless there was a reason to drive across the tracks, I don't see why they would have paved between the tracks or between track one and the fascia.  Perhaps if there was an access road to the area from off the front of the scene.

There's a prototype for everything.
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

However the paving works out (which I think looks pretty good!) you have to work this debris pile into the finished scene.  It's perfect.

All the best,

Nice.

Paving is fun. Can be time consuming, but isn't everything.

Every lumber distributor I've seen in person has their unloading point setup like how Ed has it.

At a minimum, you need forklift access to both sides of the centerbeams. Otherwise they fall over.

I assumed that the only track that the A-frames would be loaded on was the first spur track.  I thought the second spur served the warehouse.

Yes, my thought was to have the centerbeams just on the spur, where they would have access from both sides.  The paved side of the warehouse track could be spots for gons or bulkhead flats that can be unloaded from one side (I'm thinking pipe loads, steel beams, or other kinds of building materials).

@dem34 those are great pics, thanks for sharing! Do you know the location(s)?

Lee I think I saved the debris in a plastic cup to use later, exactly as you say ;)

Looking a bit ahead (no actual planning allowed tho) I think I am going to want to install a couple of concrete-style grade crossings in a few places, once I get the 8k printer tamed.  (Also some car stops, once I find some drawing to go by).

Cheers,
Ed

If you don't want to deal with paving, here is an option from the Delaware Ave Branch

Making a bit of slow (as usual) progress on the paving, with a quick batch of random pics.  Still gotta get around to cleaning up and weathering those Jersey barriers....

The RC centerbeams are dutifully standing in until the day when the Rapido centerbeams make it onto the scene. Then it will be time to make up some loads ;)

WIP -- Adding a concrete paved road, made from anchor bolt cement and with the 3D printed 'concrete' grade crossings.  Joint lines were scored with the tip of an X-acto blade and distressed w/some #220 sandpaper while the cement was still setting up.

Still needs a bit of work, but getting there.

Plus, a quick shot of the sample 3D printed tie strip against the ME/Railcraft code 40 flex.  I drybrushed the spikes/tieplates to help make them visible without magnification, even tho at a scale 160 ft distance it would be hard to see prototype spikes too.

On that Tie strip.
Its still a notable quality increase. Maybe not for regular viewing, but the camera definitely sees it.
