New runs of the 33k LPG tanks and F59PHIs this month:

Sure would be nice to have some California Cars or Surfliners in N to go along with the F59PHIs..... thankfully there were encouraging comments from Athearn during July that if their Surfliners did well in HO they'd bring them into N too.... one day.

Nothing for me - too modern.  Just as well, I don't have the room for much more anyway!

Wow, they did the 1994 Amtrak California scheme.   I guess I'll be in for that.  Yeah, need some cars though.

I'm always hesitant to order an engine when you don't know for sure if the cars will ever be made.

I think Atlas does something similar..

This is what I get at around 2500% zoom:

Using an old version of Acrobat Pro. I get similar results from Atlas... Older Athearn flyers weren't vector though. Say over ten years old.

Whys that? The F59PHIs both had have been used on the Coast Starlight as power, both Amtrak California and Surfliner versions. They are shuffled between LA and Chicago to Beech Grove for maintenance on the Southwest Chief. Back in 2017 a Cascades F59 was used for power to lead an Empire Builder. I keep hoping for Kato (and now Athearn to an extent) to bring the Surfliners and Amtrak California cars to N scale. Same for Superliner IIs, but for now, I'll use the power for the LDTs just the same.

Are you using an in-browser PDF viewer or a standalone from Adobe? That may explain the difference.

Thanks for posting those, I had no idea they were used occasionally like that. I too would like to see more Amtrak equipment from Kato. I'd assume that someone will jump into the new Siemens cars long before someone makes California Cars, Surfliners. A Talgo set would be neat as well...

Athearn keeps pumping out those LNG tanks.  Wish some other companies would take notice !  If it sells, do a re-run !

If the Rapido Horizon coaches become real we can run the Amtrak California F59 with them.  Skip to 5:35.
