Sketchup problem

I make this flat drawing in AutoCAD and import it into Sketchup. Anything with a small curve will not import with the drawing because Sketchup sucks. So I have been scaling the drawings up in AutoCAD before importing. So now all of the rivets shown are still there, but notice how they are all dark lines. I cannot select them to push or pull. If I trace over one of the lines they will turn light and I will be able to select them. Problem is there are a $hit ton of small circles that I would need to trace over.

How can I fix this in one step?

Try Highlighting the surface and the lines at the same time, right click, and you should see an option to intersect faces with selection.

I find that sometimes when you draw a shape on an existing surface it does not quite register that it should cut the new shape out, the intersect faces solves it for me

Thank you, it worked. I had to do it a little bit at a time because Sketchup kept "not responding", but it was a whole lot easier and faster than going one object at a time.

Damn still not done. Everything I do takes 5 minutes and it still keeps saying "not responding". I'm re-saving it at every step just in case. It is just a flat 2D drawing right now...  :|

So I had to make it a group just to be able to rotate it without it freezing. Now that it is rotated it will not explode without freezing.

Sketchup must have some poorly scaling algorithms, I get the “spinning beach ball” fairly often when doing the intersects.  My system tho is fairly low powered, so it spins with Draftsight and any other non trivial programs.

Have you tried to do a pattern of one or two and then replicate that pattern in whatever direction is needed.

Surface and solid calculations during an intersection command on any CAD tool is highly calculation intensive, particularly when many objects are selected to perform the intersection with.

Yes it was at first a 2D flat wall. Once I made it 3D I tried to rotate it up and kept freezing so I mad it a group. Once it was a group it would rotate. Once rotated I copied it and flipped the copy so I had a mirror of the first. Now I want to explode the 2 groups I have so I can change them.

In the end everything worked. But there were a few times that Sketchup just took forever... Like 30-45 minutes. I took a shower and ran to the post office and Sketchup was still working. But it did work.

So I see you printed this horizontally.  How on earl did you keep the upper window sashes from sagging?  Were there supports that you removed before priming?

Nothing removed. I print at 0.05mm thick layers and I think that keeps it from sagging. I bet those arched windows help stop any sagging a little as well  ;)

That looks fantastic Chris!  Is it printed on the Mini-4k?  Or your Photon?

Thanks,  Mini 4K.
Fantastic...  Glad to see you got it back together and running well.
