I wonder if they corrected the slight binding issue with the base plate for the motor.

I tried to find the thread where I discussed my findings... but could not.

Basically the motor poles were getting pinched if you screwed the lid on tight over the motor.  My solution was to motor tool a depression in the plastic motor mount base a bit to give the poles some room.

Considering the several modern GE hood units under their belt now, I have a hunch they are not using the full-body-width chassis this time having learned their lessons from the GTEL8500. Also, I strongly suspect a follow-on in a Veranda version, which would require a hood unit width motor and chassis.

Apparently still on the water, according to the ScaleTrains Delivery Schedule page, the estimated billing date for the GE Standard Turbines appears to have been pushed back to 4/19/2021

Last week, we expected the all-new Rivet Counter™ N Scale Standard Turbine shipment to arrive before the Rivet Counter HO ES44 locomotives.  Like the weather, delivery dates often change.  Yesterday, we learned the ES44s will be delivered a few days before the Standard Turbines.
Therefore, we’ve decided to invoice the HO ES44s this Monday as planned and move the N Scale Standard Turbine billing to Monday, April 19th.
We have limited capacity to pick, pack, and ship orders.  This will allow our warehouse team of two to ship the bulk of the ES44 preorders before starting the Turbines.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for the delay.

Got a shipping confirmation today. Time to give the tracks a cleaning so I can put them on the layout as soon as the delivery guy throws them on the porch.

Mine arrived today and took for a few loops around the layout. Looks awesome and runs just as great. Looks fantastic next to my first run turbine. I will keep buying these as long as ST keeps making them. What is next, the veranda? Hopefully.

Here are some pics. Locomotive (without tender) weighs a hefty 4.97 oz or 141 grams.

Tender light comes on in reverse.

Looks, runs and sounds great. Function 3 activates the turbine and the locomotive speed increases for the same speed step compared to the diesel prime mover/hostler mode.

Function 6 activates a RED UDE Mars light. This will turn off the headlight.

Roof details on the locomotive and etched walkways on the tender are awesome. The pictures don't do enough justice. All in all, a solid performance from Scale Trains yet again.

Lombard is getting their's shortly if anyone is looking to buy these.
