RS-11 Steam Generator Photo

Anyone have a Rapido (or any other brand or prototype photo for that mater) RS-11 with a steam generator that I can get a photo of? I'm trying to model one in N scale (don't hate me) and I can't find a photo anywhere...not even at Rapido, so I can see what they look like and where they are placed. Thanks...

Look for New Haven or Norfolk and Western RS 11s.

Looks like the steam generator was in the nose.

I don't have a photo handy, but the NKP/N&W version has different roof details - for example, a round stack.

<edit>
Oops - there is no NKP version - that's an RS36  :facepalm:

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I assume by your Icon you may be working on an SP RS11, and I was unable to find a photo of an SP RS11 with a steam generator.

But I was able to find photos of SP models with steam generators..

So.... Not sure what to believe..

Seems like there was only one SP unit with a steam generator - ex demonstrator DL701B: http://digitalrailartist.com/photos/alco-rs11-dl701-demonstrator/

Look for New Haven or Norfolk and Western RS 11s.

N&W bought over 90 RS-11s, but none of them had steam generators (the "Redbird" GP9s #500-521 were purchased for passenger service).

As George pointed out, two ex-NKP RS36s  (NW # 2874-2875 , ex NKP 874-875) had steam generators, they were ordered with high noses as that's where the steam generator is.

Yes, only one had a steam generator and it was one of the three Alco Demonstrators that SP bought. The other interesting thing about them (from an SP standpoint) is they were the only three that ran long hood forward. For some reason, I just like the black widow paint being at the end of the long hood (but I'm not looking forward to getting a decal to stick in all those louvers). I either can model the one with the steam generator (and then also use it on passenger trains) than modeling the other two (that had smaller fuel tanks and would mean removing weight from the frames).

Thanks learmoia! Looks like the intake and exhaust are both square instead of round (like EMD's were).

According to Rapidos drawings, the demo units had the same steam generator placement as NH and NW

That information is incorrect. While they did a good job on the N&W RS11 bodies, they dropped the ball on researching which units actually received blue paint (I forgave them though - it's a great loco).

Here's the Rapido model:
