Lol. I wonder if anyone makes eggplant emoji cabinet hardware. Hmm...

Convert the Emojii to vector art, drop it in Fusion, give it some depth and provisions for hardware. boom. Magnum dong for some high energy switching.

I used to have a light switch cover plate that was a naked guy.

Edit: looks like it was vintage: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-1964-nude-man-plastic-light-403283079

Not particularly sexy, but three switch mounts ready to go in.

Maybe not sexy, but certainly effective and damn simple to put together!  Don't get more basic than that...  Perfect!

Ugh. I hate seeing the "Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 30 days." warning!

So here's the latest "exciting" update.

I've spent a week of evenings getting this all fitted and soldered up.

Now I'm installing it.

Building a layout is f'ing tedious. lol.

Is ya boy doing the same thing he said he'd never do again after Windsor St and creating the need for many, many linear feet of urban scenery to fill?

Yes. Yes he is.

What a dumbass.

Anyway, after getting the control point all in place cork is now down through downtown York.

For reference, this is the same general scene here from the old rendition. I've flipped some things around (like now Poorhouse Yard and the curve are on the right side of things).

Hey Ed we know urban scenery takes forever and is a PITA- but the reward of a finished urban scene is worth the effort! Doesn’t hurt when the structures are already built  :D

You need to find your inner George Sellios - or maybe Rod Stewart.

It's the "Josh Room".

No, in reality it's just enclosing the water meter and shutoff valve. I'm going to replace it with a curtain (thanks @DeltaBravo ) and go on with my life.

Sorry....I'm here! I'm working my way through the pages!

Sorry....I'm here! I'm working my way through the pages!

It's about time.

But you're here just in time to catch me talking about knobs.

As discussed previously, I'm using these to control turnouts. But I've got one problem: they're tapped for 8-32 screws, and the Golden Rod control rods are all 2-56. I've been struggling with how to solve this problem for a while and this weekend realized the solution. Glue.

The end of the rod will fit inside the knob, so glue is only needed to hold it there. The knob is threaded, so I'm not worrying about a grip there, but the rod itself is very smooth. My plan is simply to put some knicks in it so that as the glue dries it'll solidify inside the cavities and the threads and it should NEVER come out.

Three months of head scratching is now over. I'm not doing the mounting yet, since I have to do it after the fascia is attached, but for now, problem solved.

Next up, let me complain about the MA&PA. Whoever told them THIS was the best way to interchange with the PRR can go eat a bag of Nixons.

But once in place, it definitely screams "York".

You need these for you knobs. Not exactly cheap if you have lots of switches, but they'll be far more robust than glue. https://www.mcmaster.com/91159A103/

Another solution… drill out the knob with a much larger bit, fill the hole with epoxy, drill & tap the epoxy for the desired size thread, screw knob on.
