I'm in a bit of a holding pattern while waiting for my AC unit to arrive so I've been working on some other fronts.

Specifically, working on the under-table mounts that I'm making to make implementing @skytop35 's slide switch solution. These make it easy to mount everything with screws AND importantly, give me the ability to make minor adjustments (a trick I loved on @rodsup9000 's awesome Tortoise mounts).

You can see my original print left the screw holes way too large (hence my ghetto a$$ washers) and was larger than really necessary. I also need to get some of the Dude Bro hardware to test fit it and see what I need to do to accommodate it.

I'm also thinking about the benchwork for the rest of the layout. I'm going to be making L girders to hang off of the brackets for the wall section. These will support risers (I'm thinking 1x2 or 1x3) and then some sort of roadbed. I'm not sure what to do in that regard, and am open to suggestions.

Cookie cutter is a possibility, but it seems awfully wasteful of suddenly expensive plywood.

I like the idea of splines, but don't have a table saw to rip down the thin strips to make them. For that reason, I was thinking of maybe trying PVC trim strips. Any thoughts?

The other thing I am looking for some feedback on is how to stabilize it all on the carpet. In the past I've used NTRAK style leg leveling bolts (which have worked ok), but I'm curious if anyone's done anything they liked better.

Yeah. It seems to work fine. The only way to improve it would be to use a larger switch since the ones I got off Amazon were smaller than the ones that @skytop35 used.

Ha!     I just finished 2200 sq ft. The bad news is, it hurts worse at the far wall,  but the good news is it feels great when it's done. Good start.

I was surprised when the engineered wood floor was installed in our house. The installer used adhesive and a rubber mallet to persuade the wood planks into position.

It was on the second floor, installed over a plywood subfloor deck glued to 2x12 floor joists. No squeaks or creaking at all.

An interesting coincidence.  I just got the Spring 2021 (V54, #1) of The Keystone (PRRT&HS Mag) and there is a significant article in it about the Parkton Station including drawings and the history of the NCR.  I haven't had a chance to read it in depth, but it looks interesting.

Same author for both articles - Frank Wrabel.  Not identical articles but comparing the PDF I see similar information.  At least in the first few paragraphs.  I didn't check past that.

Cool - I know Frank. The article was published 2008. Didn't know he had another similar article in the latest PRRT&HS.
