I thought they were painted red by Conrail in the time between finalizing the merger and implementing the Merger.. (similar to "NS" SD70s and "CSX" SD70MACs)

I believe the red Conrail cabooses are the "shared asset" cabooses.

I'm well aware of the prototype. It's the fact that it was painted red in anticipation of the merger (much like CBQ and GN Cascade Green engines).

Same Reason I don't run Athearn's beautiful SD70.

Yes. It's not on the schedule at the moment but it's on our list of things to do.

By the way, to clarify on the Conrail Shared Assets cabooses, they were painted in that red scheme in October of 1999.
