Just some minor detailing, decal and weathering work for me the past week or so. Pennsy H30 in SK scheme and Southern shadowline 12-1 heavyweight.

Why does it feel that I'm somehow still doing more benchworking, while everyone else does all this cool stuff with structures and weathering and running trains...

Anyway, I've finally built the lift-up gate mechanism which makes the layout entrance somewhat usable, without having to resort to clamps holding the gate up.







The operation of the gate is with both hands - one hand presses the door handle down, pulling the door bolts in, while the other hand lifts the gate up or down. The door bolts latch into the holes in the door frame so the idea is to lift the gate up to a certain level (that I will mark at a later date) and then depress the handle so the bolts click.

Nice kitbash Doug - somewhat reminiscent of my current BCOL 6505 Tie & Truck Car project:




This week saw completion of my N Scale Climax build for the Provincial Museum Train, including installation of boiler details and mounting of the boiler and tender tank.  The cab remains loose for now to aid in painting.  Here is the fully assembled model:






Time to see what the Donkey and Climax look like perched on their respective display flatcars:






And what they will look like on the track:






These are now ready for painting, and in the case of the Climax some decals, and there will then be some work to mount them permanently on the flatcars.  A former museum train staff member has provided some wonderful close-up photographs of how the Climax was secured so I am hoping to be able to represent that fairly well.

Time for a new project!

When you attach image, try selecting "Inline full-size image".  If you are planning on posting more images, I highly recommend that instead of uploading images to the post, you start your own TRW photo album, then upload the images there while linking them to your post.

While it is slightly more cumbersome, it works better in the end. Plus images uploaded directly to posts sometimes  tend to disappear, while that has never happens to images hosted in a photo album.

The instructions on those various ways of uploading images to TRW are in the Admin/FAQ subgroup.

After trying to make the east end of Cedricsburg Yard a bit more presentable, it's time to finish up the trackwork at the west end. Got four turnouts installed and double-ended three of the classification tracks.



All the feeders are dropped, but not tied into the bus yet. Couple more turnouts and a few pieces of flex, and the yardwork is done. 

Also revamping the timetable a bit to better reflect C&NW operations in my 1954-55 era, and will be writing a bit more about that in coming weeks (for the three of you interested in that  ).
