Digitrax DN163K0E

Hi all,

Does someone know if the Digitrax DN163K0E E-5 decoder can be used in an E-8/9?
Digtrax just says not to use the E-8 decoder in an E-5 but not the other way round.

I'm asking because the E-5 decoder is on sale at one one of the few dealers here in Germany....

PS: Oh, there is no point in asking the dealer, they don't know such things....

The board will fit (it's the same), but the LED will not - it's a little too long.  You might be able to just bend the LED leads and get it to fit, but more likely will have to remove the LED (unsolder it, don't cut the leads, shorten and reshape the leads a little, and put it back.    Replacing the LED on these boards is easy if you can solder.

Thanks to you both for the info. Fixing the LED issue will be no problem.
