PRR Freight Car Classes in N scale

Working my way through as many PRR freight car classes as possible in N scale.  Here is a G25 gon kitbashed from a Con-Cor gon.  This was a relatively easy kitbash.  The car is a USRA gon built in 1919 and 1920. Because they were not a PRR design, the G25s were not favored by the PRR, but they had 2500 of them and many lasted well into the 1950s.  The G25 had an interior length of 46 feet with drop ends and a wood floor.  The Con-Cor gon is about a foot too long, but close enough to not be noticeable.  The first task was to saw off the fishbelly sides as the G25 had flat-bottomed sides.  The other modification was a complete rebuilding of the car ends from fixed end on the Con-Cor to the drop drop ends of the G25.  The car had a unique brake wheel and staff that pivoted down out of the way of extra long loads with the car end down.  I added correct MTL Andrews trucks.  Paint was a 50-50 mix of Vallejo Cavalry Brown and Amaranth Red.  Decals provided by Mount Vernon Shops.  Weathering is with Tamiya Panel Line Accent and some Bragdon powders.  The loads are three reels of Roebling Wire Rope.

This is something I wanted to do with my Conrail fleet, but never got around to it.

I haven't been there but I have passed by it on the NJT River Line.  A recommended ride on the earliest part of the PRR - the Camden & Amboy.

Yes, a great idea, Doug! Given the massive size of their fleet, we are all Pennsy modelers, even if we don’t model the Pennsy.

Yes, as many as feasible, but it will always be a fraction of the many PRR classes.  I currently have models representing about 30 PRR freight classes and sub-classes (including cabin cars).

The G36 is too modern for me, but the G29 looks interesting. What is that ATSF gon?  Is it the right length for the G29?

ATSF is AHM/Lima 45' gondola.  Model Power makes a copy of this model, but with the brake wheel molded in place.
