One thing I want to accomplish on the next layout is new techniques I've been watching on social media. This is an experiment on a delinquent section of track.
Wolf, I always love seeing your work. I'm curious what your layout is like, so you have a build thread here or a website documenting it?
Sorry, I did not create a layout build thread.
Started working this week on the step-by-step photographic instructions for the ESM acid tank car as I have all the components on hand to build two complete pilot models, one each of both variations. There may still be an issue with the with-dome-platform variation but I think the non-platform version will reveal no major impediments. I’ve changed the assembly process midstream, which has revealed the need for some minor tweaks required for three of the 3D parts, but nothing I couldn’t manually modify to continue. The step-by-step photography and logging the steps are slowing me down, up to 50 photos already. Still working on the main body. Hopefully more progress this coming week.
Got the shell of another industry done this week:
Ed's what?
I think one would be a very welcome addition.
Working on another car for my Santa Fe Fast Mail: New York Central express reefer. This is an old NJ International brass model that I picked up on Ebay. It was painted (not sure if it was factory painted or painted by a previous owner - I've never seen one factory painted before). I applied the decals and Z scale 905 couplers yesterday afternoon. I still need to weather it. (Attachment Link)
One down - SW8 4611 is ready to get to workThe SW900 is being stubbornAnd with TR6B 4700Thanks,Wolf
That’s such a distinctive car, Nate, I love it. I have one of them as well (for my own ATSF Fast Mail Express) along with one of our own Bill Denton’s NYC troop car conversions, see pic below. I note your car has its distinctive sill painted a gray color, along with the roof. Not being a Central modeler, is like to get enlightened...is my car not painted correctly? I’d like to get it right (and generally like colors lighter than black on my models anyway). My Fast Mail Express also includes several of the ubiquitous ATSF Fe-24 Express Boxcars, without the maps and slogans (those disappeared very quickly on the express cars account of going through wash racks along with other “passenger” train cars...).Otto
Wolf, those are NICE! I must admit, the tiger stripes might even be prettier than the zebras....You’ve been a busy boy! Nice job! Love your layout, too...Otto
