After running across his beautiful model kit of the Tuckahoe station, I contacted Richard at Right on Tracks Models about the feasibility of adding a Woodbury, NJ station kit to his lineup. For the last 8 months I have been running down contacts from the Woodbury Historical Society and the group that led the historical restoration of the station. I have also been taking/collecting pictures and measuring the building.

I am absolutely thrilled that Richard has agreed to get this project on his drawing board for this winter. His previous kits can be found at: https://www.rightontrackmodels.com/

Woodbury is the county seat of Gloucester County and was founded in 1683 by Henry Wood, a Quaker, from England. Its short-lived (8 years) first railroad, the Woodbury and Camden Railroad, came to town in 1838.

George Green brought his patent medicine and glass manufacturing to Woodbury in the 1870s and the town flourished. (I’m sure the opium content of his medicines spurred its reputation as a world class medical cure-all.)

In 1917, 139 daily trains passed the triple-tracked Woodbury train station. At one time 40+ passenger trains a day stopped at Woodbury but alas, the automobile triumphed and the last passenger train through town ran in 1971. In 1996 the station was restored and since then has been a popular historic restaurant.

The model will be available in multiple scales.

More pictures of the station can be found on my blog: http://rickb773-prsl.blogspot.com/

Hopefully he’ll do Bridgeport or Gibbstown next. I’d take a Paulsboro in the meantime.

Oh man, definitely!

The Penns Grove is such a modelable thing (well, if tank cars were more available).

And I went to High School there (and you did the track plan for one of my nSale Magazine articles).
Any chance of talking you into building one for me since I stink at craftsman kits?
It will be the centerpiece of my N scale Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines layout (http://rickb773-prsl.blogspot.com/)

Me? Sorry, no, I'm not taking on any projects that might last for more than a few days. I'd hate to leave someone hanging because I couldn't finish.

Well for current day you don’t need any station buildings. Heck, sometime before 1937 a lot of the much smaller stations I’m interested in were already strictly flag-stops.

This project started in the fall of 2019. I spent 8 months doing research and collecting photos. Richard Segal of RightOnTrack models https://www.rightontrackmodels.com/s...OFF-p324798220  then spent another year of planning, drafting, and developing this beautiful ornate structure kit.

The WJ&S (PRR) / PRSL / Conrail station in Woodbury NJ. has continued to guard a junction of 3 branches (for more than a century) and once overlooked a 3 track mainline. The ornate structure is of eastern stick style architecture.

These are museum quality laser wood kits and although listed as "easy to assemble", are probably meant for a more experienced builder. The manufacturer has promised to soon publish the assembled/built up prices. The kits include the main station, the "across the tracks" shelter, and the separate wood tool shed.

The O scale station building alone is 27" x 10". In N scale: 8"x3".

Pre-order kit prices (until (Apric 25th) are:
N: $95.95     ($112.95)
HO: $127.95 ($149.95)
S: $203.95    ($239.95)
O: $220.95   ($259.95)

They will begin shipping May 15th.

The pictures are the manufacturer's O scale prototype:

Is the passenger shelter on the other side of the main going to be included?

Yes and the same off center style was also used in other stations along the line including Glassboro.

Beautiful! And an important landmark for South Jersey railfans.

Also useful in many other situations and locations as well.
