Started working on the stash of kits accumulated over the last few years /(ok.. decades)   First on the work bench is this Briggs Pacific Great Eastern caboose.    Quite an enjoyable build so far and, when finished, the PGE orange will break up the sea of BCR two tone green stock a bit too.

Work on the transfer shed module is moving right along.  I've got the landforms in and the roadbed prepared for track.  This section will eventually be the top level of a vertical staging elevator.

Progress (slow!) on this locomotive.  I'm detailing an Atlas C420 to represent BC Rail 631.  Big contribution to this project is the Briggs Models detail kit including correct radiator/intake louvres, filter, exhaust stack, and slug connection boxes.

Great model Philippe. I have in one the drawer that I began quite a while ago, prior to Briggs’s detail kit. I have since acquired the detail kit and will use it to finish up.

What did you use for the brass single lights on the nose? Tubing?

Also who’s horn did you modify and could you tell me a bit about that? 

Really looking forward to seeing this one finished up.

Finally in case you weren’t aware, the Microscale caboose decal set has the incorrect stripes for the caboose, making them correct for this locomotive as they face opposite directions.

It actually took a bit of searching to find just the right kind of yard lights, but I finally them at Layouts4u (UK). They're ridiculously cheap (less than $5 US) and got here faster than stuff I've ordered stateside. Suffice it to say, I couldn't be happier with them.

Agreed; all of the applied details are nice and straight.  These are challenging locomotives to model in their post-rebuild configuration and I think this is the furthest along I have seen one in either scale.  Well done!

The single light housings are brass tubing with a countersink to allow for a lens (fibreoptic in this case).  I got them from Tim who had them as spares.  I think they were fabricated by Dave McKinnon of Details N Scale.

The horn is a Miniatures by Eric brass casting, part number NH15 and no modifications were requred.  It's mounted on part number NB11 bell, cab mount.  I drilled a #80 hole in the bell bracket to glue the horn to it.  It's a pretty exposed part up there so it needs to be as secure as possible.

Thanks for the decal tip, but as you might have guessed, I've got a full set of custom decals for this project.  I'm really looking forward to applying them!
