Glad Kato is rerunning these, if only to help keep alive the source of geared axles and worms.  Their SD40-2 mid-production is one of only a few they make that uses a geared axle tube with the gear in the CENTER (not offset), and uses mod 0.2 (finer) gears and worm.  The GG-1 is another one.

The gearcase and bearings are exactly the same as on the N SD70ACe and revised SD70m also.

Hope this helps!

Kelley.

@nightmare0331
Just a suggestion Kelley:
When Kato USA takes photos of the partstype of  products (like trucks), it would be nice to show both, the side, and bottom view of the trucks. That way modelers who use them in applications other than replacing broken part in a Kato loco, could see more details (like location of the gear).  Just take photo of 2 trucks (out of their baggies). One sitting upright, and 2nd one upside down. Make the photo bright enough to see details of the dark-colored trucks (so it is not just a black blob).
Same goes with other products photographed in their baggies - sometimes it is hart to see what's in the bag.  Take the parts out of the bag for the photo.

Yes, it is a pain to do, but would help us all out.
