Greetings:

Would someone be able to tell me how to calculate the weight in ounces or grams of a piece of cold rolled steel with the following measurements:

1/8" thick x 5/8" wide x 4 1/2" long

If too heavy for an N Scale car weight, how much would the length have to be shortened to get down to 3/4 oz?

Steel is ~4.5oz per cubic inch. You have .35 cubic inches, which computes to 1.575 oz. Cut it in half and you're really close.
