Therein lies the rub - any refund is NOT from Kickstarter, it would from Mr. Cutting. And we all know how he is about following through on promises.

I think we all understand the refund is supposed to come from him thus my query to see if any action one way or other has occurred for anyone.

The only response I received from Kickstarter is in my post from last week. I in turn responded to that, requesting further clarification, but did not receive the courtesy of a reply.  As a result of the fact that I did not receive an answer to any of the issues that I posted on this forum, and Kickstarter did not reply to me until 2 days AFTER the OP's imposed 4 day deadline (and then without addressing the issues), I had no opportunity to participate in the refund scheme.  And since the document I was sent (the "survey") required that I perjure myself by agreeing that the project was complete and I was backing out and "requesting" a refund rather than a "reward", I could not sign off in any case, as it would allow the OP to claim that he had completed the project, but that his backers had abandoned him, and would have the paperwork to prove it.

As a matter of curiosity, does anyone know Kickstarter's fee structure, and how much of the money they keep regardless of whether the project succeeds or fails?

For USA based projects:

Kickstarter fee
5% of total funds raised
Payment processing fees
3% + $0.20 per pledge

So, 8% plus .20 per pledge....

@dcutting had better do right by his supporters. Otherwise, he'll never become a manufacturer of any model railroad related product. Well, on second thought, I suspect either way he won't become one. His reputation is over, as far as I can see. And being so young, he'll be regretting this for a very, very long time indeed.

I'm in for the write off.  My $61 is down the drain.  Lesson learned: stay away from kickstarter.

Of greater interest to me is DCC++ EX where Cutting is one of two "lead developers".  If I install this software to replace my DCC++ original will I be in trouble?

Wow....I just wrote a reply to DKS with exactly this reference, then decided against it and didn't hit send.   Freaky. 

But the unfortunate reality is, the road to longevity in the model railroading industry is paved with guys like this.

And I doubt @dcutting will regret this one bit.   From his "End of the Road" message, it's clear that he's wired to think he deserves the funds.  (that is assuming that there was ever an intention to produce anything, but I digress...further)   Hell, if handled differently, he probably would have had a good contingent that would have "let it ride" or otherwise would have supported a path that included a more expensive end product or some moneys contributed for development.  But the arrogant and disinterested treatise he concocted truly shows what he's made of, and I'll be surprised if we see a penny.

The irony, MoPac has -100 respect for having an idea for a product.. and dcutting still has +50 respect after not refunding $10,000 collected for an undelivered product.

If you look at it from the perspective of "forum behavior," MoPac got what he deserved for his inappropriate violations of TRW rules, e.g., name calling and respect-bombing.  Mr. Cutting did not act in this manner, and his theft of a lot of 's money is not a TRW issue.

The thing with him though, wast the internet wasn't as vast of information with E&C/LBF, but Mr. Cutting is on a lot of boards and quite easily searched.

At least Fred produced cars and such, can't say the same for a lot of what Mr. Cutting has done. I wanted to get a 3GS21B  and SP TEBU kits, but when he was doing them, people were having issues getting them for what I seen.
