I’m not a fan of the tracks that close to the backdrop and I doubt you are either.
Can you bring them half or a maybe a third of the original distance towards the front edge and then begin the transition around the corner?

I am not opposed to move things. Max reach is 22 inches as it sits. Here are some earlier iterations.

That's looking really good.  Amazing how "finished" it can look just by painting the foam.
You've got quite a spread there.

Still here. Technically Charlotte but really Harrisburg in the university area. The layout advances in spurts and Im in a good sized one right now. Feel free to drop by. I have a guest room and would be happy to have a guest.

When the layout was originally planned with two decks there was going to be space on the lower deck for two industries that I wanted to be represented. One was a pulpwood loading siding. These were common across tge South in the 60s and 70s and came and went as pulpwood was harvested in areas. So they were usually pretty haphazard affairs that got the job done.

When I downsized the layout I lost the real world place for a pulpwood lot. After some introspection and a weird late night realization(like 3 in the morning when I woke up for some reason) I decided to switch around some things on the layout and work in the pulpwood lot.

It went from this:

To This:

In the second pic you can see the far turnout which was previously there and will serve a warehouse of some sort with a decent sized scrap yard at the end which is the other industry I wanted on the lower deck that I was missing.
Am I trying to jam too much in here?

Love the pulpwood cars. Scratch built? I need a few of those for my developing pulpwood yard which btw is shaping up to be almost identical to yours.

The shorter ones are Atlas cars. The longer are kitbashed just like the real railroad did. Cut down boxcar.

I have thought about using the atlas cars but I’ve not found any decals that will work. I’m going to bet that yours are custom.

Yes. Only a few sets of currently available decals for Southern and none specifically for these cars. They are a hash of pieces from different sets to get close to what the pics I have show.
