Is Micro Engineering (e.g. flex track) still in business?
« on: May 21, 2020, 07:02:06 PM »

I can no longer find a working web site for Micro Engineering, from whom I used to purchase flex track directly.  I am interested in knowing if:

1)  they are still in business, and
2)  if the N-scale code 55 flex track they currently manufacture is compatible with that of 5 years ago (when I last bought some).

Any help would be appreciated.

http://www.microengineering.com/index.htm  works for me - sort of.  It wants to run Flash, which my browser blocks.

I recently got some new turnouts from them, so I think they're still around.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I googled micro engineering and hit the 1st search result which might show what you are looking for but you have to play Guess the Scale:

Ah...

My issue was I don't allow Flash to run by default.  The website works (e.g. shows menus and subsidiary links) when I allow it.

WRT the compatibility of recent production flex track, I'll try to phone them tomorrow during normal business hours.

Thanks.  MH

Yes.  The last Copyright date on the site is 2014. The price list is dated Sept 2018

They must be operating.  MBKlein's (ModelTrainStuff.com) has 45 bundles of non-weathered Code 55 which was out of stock a month ago.  Also 13 bundles of weathered Code 55 which was out of stock two months ago.

Yes ... they are still in business. Ken Patterson had much to say about ME on his show "Whats neat this week".

Ken who?

Ah the dude, that will worship you as long as you praise him with money or gifts. Oh and not an N scaler, he doesn't believe that its a legit scale compared to HO.

Well that seems like an unnecessary shot at someone.

Isn't it true evaluation though?

in this case - no its not.  He regularly tours N scale layouts and hosts N scale modelers and manufacturers.  He is paid by Walthers, Athearn and others to do photo work in addition to hosting his monthly video series and weekly podcast for MRH, and has always been open and honest about that being how he makes his living.

And even if it were, we really need to get away from character assassinations here. I can get more then enough of that elsewhere.

While I would love to keep the KP discussion going, ME is still in business, but they were running a skeleton crew. I emailed them a couple of times and they were out of several items and didn’t know when they would be producing them again. Hopefully they get everyone back and start producing again soon. The backlog of demand is growing for their bridge track and concrete tie track.
