Anyone able to identify these parts?
« on: May 19, 2020, 04:20:32 PM »

I posted this here because I am fairly certain they are N Scale parts.
There are 3 of them, each the same except for one having the protruding finger smaller in length or broken off.
They were in a plastic zip seal bag with #59 written on it.
I am clueless.

They seem to be heavier than brass and darker in color, perhaps bronze or another metal.
I have no memory of purchasing them, but then that is par for the course.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

U18b may know he repairs a lot of brass.

yes, he does, and does so very well!
perhaps he will chime in.
i doubt, however, that it is a detail part for a brass locomotive
as i would not have purchased such with owning no brass but
a set of PRR F7 AB
thanks

I'm stumped.

The flat portion is angled or curved.  If curved, looks like it might have something to do with a boiler.

Notice the part on the right appears to have a hole drilled in it.

My guess is a motor mount cradle. May be HO because of the angle. The motors often aimed down at a steep angle because the worm went directly to a worm gear on an axle of the loco.

Thanks for your reply, Ron...much appreciated.
it is not curved but is angled
there is a hole on the underside of each which appears to be cast into the part
but not very deep and it does not continue through to the other side
and all the parts are identical except for that finger like protruding part
that is almost non existent on one and of different lengths on the other two.

...

My guess is a motor mount cradle. May be HO because of the angle. The motors often aimed down at a steep angle because the worm went directly to a worm gear on an axle of the loco.

thanks Tony for your reply, very appreciated.
But I haven't modeled HO since 1993.
plus, the only motor mounts would have been Trix K4 or 2-10-0
conversions, neither of which required said part.

i will allow this to be a mystery as i do not have any projects in mind
that those parts will be for. i just thought they might be useful and
could be passed on to someone who needed such parts.

thanks all!
Gary

Maybe a BIGGER image would help.   Anybody know what part # 58 or 60 was?
And if you are like me, if you get rid of them, you'll need them with in a day or two.  Or if you keep them, you never be able to find them, where you stored them.

That's why you keep a junk box.  In my kitbashing days, I would cut the nose off a shell.... and then the rest goes in the junk box.   Never know when you will need a fan or battery box.
