TrainWorx 85' Flat Car - Extra Parts

Hey all,

I just got a pair of Trainworx 85' flat cars (TTX yellow) and saw there were some extra detail parts in the case. They look to be cross members for the deck, possibly to hold containers when the hitch is removed?  :? The thing that threw me off is there are 5 pieces. I am not sure what they are for and if I want/need to install them to be prototypical.

Thanks.

Those are the container pedestals for 4 20' containers. There are two end and three center pieces. You can set them for 2 40 footers as well

Or a 40' and two 20' would also be prototypical, usually with the 40' at one end, rather than in the middle.  Or a 40' and a 20', with one at each end, and a space between.

The prototype, at least in the 60s and early 70s, often had three 20', one at each end, and one in the center.  The problem is that that would take six "end" pedestals, so you'd have to steal a bunch from other cars.
