Walthers PD hopper upgrade interest?

John from Keystone Details is close to finishing the initial design for an upgrade kit for the Walthers PD hopper. This will include:

Etched end cages with  separate grabs
Walkways and crossover platforms
Two step versions
Brake wheels
Piping hangers with provisions to model the air intake loop
Mounting hardware for brake cylender
Various other detail tidbits

The kit is designed to bring the Walthers car up to the same detail level is the Trainworx and Atlas/BLMA PD cars.

Modeler would need to provide BLMA/Atlas 100t trucks, brake hardware (available from MTL, Intermountain and Trainworx) and brass or bronze wire for the air intake loop.

This was initially intended for my private fleet, but I'm trying to see if there would be interest from anyone else before I decide on the order amount for the etcher.

Also seeing what price you would be OK with paying for a lot like this.

Any profits from this project would go to additional etched detail projects.

From memory I've got 4 of these floating around, so I'd be in for 4-5 at about $10-15 per car.

I have 2 or 3 that could do with this upgrade,  $10-15 sounds about right to me

I have to check to see how many of these cars I saved during the great purge.

Ok, that's 7-10 sets so far including those that sent a PM.

I'm going to try and keep the cost to about $12. We'll see how many kits Lemosteam can fit per sheet and what the sheets would cost. I intend to etch this in nickel, which is a bit more forgiving than steel when bending and will have a nice metallic finish.

Kits will come with full instructions and will feature a tab-slot construction method, and bending jigs will be included on the fret.

Anyone else interested?

You probably mean nickel-silver (a type of a brass alloy)?
