Any chance you could show the scratch built underframes?  Those cars look great.

Jeff

I posted photos and my note sheet in the AC&Y L.E. thread Jeff.

Geez, those NCL F units are beautiful Andrew.

It's "Chessie" and can only be warded off with judicial placements of yellow, orange and blue equipment !

Are you planning on dull coating the shell afterwards? The finish on the paint seems a little odd.

I agree, its a little odd; but I'm not sure it should be dull either.

I think it's a result of my desk lamp hard lighting bringing out a guff with the black coat of paint.  I mixed the black acrylic with 91% IPA instead of plain water, which I noticed makes the spray a little more 'spattery' than even mist.  With softer light, it looks much better.

I fear there's nothing I can do to improve it otherwise, but I welcome ideas.

It's my daughter's cat P.J., and he enjoys watching the electric mouse run around it's track.  If it was Chessie, the upper track would already be abandoned none of the equipment on the lower track would be taken care of.

No worries.  There's a door on the office, so it will be henceforth cordoned off when not attended.

I have a question about that uncoupling lever.  It looks to me like it has to lift the pin in the coupler to open it, but the lift lever appear to be blocked by the bar behind it.  Should the cut lever be behind that long horizontal bar so it can pivot toward the boiler front?  Or am I mistranslating the image?  I like the look and would like to copy it on one of my switchers, but not sure how it works.

The handle is in the fully up position in the photo, so that bar attached to the pin in the coupler would be lifted in this case, releasing the knuckle.

Second project for me this week was a new set of Train Taco Trays!

And of course we need to transport the Train Taco Trays in a new Train Taco Tray Tote!

https://i.imgur.com/g273bXR.jpg

Previous Train Taco Tray Totes hold 4 trays and are a solid enclosure from 1/2 inch ply.  Strong, but way too heavy, so I reduced the new Train Taco Tray Totes to 3 trays and using 5mil ply with 1/2" bracing.  So much easier to handle!

Now having 12 Train Taco Trays, I will replace the previous 4 tray totes with four 3 tray totes.

Yes, the black has a pebbly finish, uncharacteristic for your quality of modeling.  Maybe some satin-finish clear coat would smooth it out? I would say "strip and repaint it for the 3rd time" but that would probably get me some down-votes.  :scared:

Better modeling through peer pressure.  :)

Oh , collective wisdom of the Railwire: in planing for the anticipated Covid shutdown I purchased what I thought I’d need for the upcoming weeks. I’ve got track, cork, ballast, plans and good intentions. However it looks like I shorted myself on track to track bus hook-up wire. Possible critical shortage in that it may limit progress. In looking through the supply closet it appears I have some 24 gauge wire (stranded). Is this too light?

After the inspection by P.J., it was decided there needed to be more scenery.

Started mudding in the riverbank, ballasted a section of track.
Goal is to create a setting to photograph some of the Retro Fleet.
